MCL River East Development

This development is located on 13 acres near the mouth of the Chicago River and the Ogden Slip.  It contains hotels, restaurants, retail establishments and nearly 2,500 condominium units spread throughout six buildings.

Two residential buildings (formerly called River East Center, Phase II) are planned for the area bounded by McClurg, Grand, Peshtigo Court, and Illinois, the site of the old Kraft Building. The development, now called Parkview Condominiums, includes 70, 000 square feet of open space and a three-story parking garage. Construction of the first tower started in early 2006 with a Fall 2007 completion. No construction start date has been set of the second tower. Included in the landscaping plans for these two buildings is the creation of a 70, 000 square foot park.

Three properties that originally were part of the MCL River East Center Development (Grand View, Park View, and Lake View) have been sold to the L & R Development Company.

At the former Park View and Lake View sites (501 E. North Water Street), the Fordham Spire, a condominium and hotel designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, is proposed. The Spire, if constructed, would become the tallest building in the United States.

In addition, MCL Companies is working with the City of Chicago on redeveloping DuSable Harbor and Park so as to revive this green space for the City of Chicago's Park District.
