Heather Gaffney is T.Y. Lin International's Central Regional Director and she is responsible for managing the firm's Chicago, Illinois office. Heather also serves as a member of T.Y. Lin International's Board of Directors. Heather's experience in the transportation sector is varied and extensive.
A structural engineer by education and training, her 25-year career includes the planning, design, and construction of highway and transit bridges, railroad projects, and bridge inspections. Her clients include the Illinois and Michigan Departments of Transportation; the City of Chicago; Illinois State Tollway Authority; transit agencies, including METRA, NICTD and CTA; and Class I freight railroads.
Heather has led many noteworthy projects throughout the Chicago area and is well respected for her ability to address community support and engineering solutions. Heather and her team have successfully completed the reconstruction of East/West Wacker Drive, South Lake Shore Drive (US 41), I-94 Dan Ryan Expressway, and the I-80/94 Kingery Expressway. Heather is active in numerous associations, including the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC IL), Illinois Road & Transportation Builders Association (IRTBA), and the University of Illinois at Chicago Civil Engineering Advisory Committee.
