TYLin provided full engineering, design, contract administration, and site inspection services for Sherbourne Common in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This 1.5-hectare (3.4-acre) public space is in the heart of the East Bayfront redevelopment precinct of Toronto’s waterfront. Scope of work included the provision of potable water, sanitary, and stormwater infrastructure, as well as grading, a pumping station, and an ultraviolet (UV) treatment facility. The pumping and treatment facilities play an integral part of the stormwater management strategy for the overall East Bayfront development. 

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • TYLin designed the submersible pumping station with a divided wet well to draw water from the different sources.  
  • Each cell within the wet well is equipped with a submersible pump, complete with associated discharge piping and valving for flexibility of operations. 
  • The UV system comprises two units, each capable of disinfecting at a flow rate of 70L/s, with spatial allowance for future expansion to 140L/s complete with flow, UV transmittance (UVT), and turbidity monitoring. 
  • Features included treating lake water and providing it to proposed public art features and park irrigation system.  
  • Portions of the pavilion building were utilized for the pump and UV disinfecting equipment. 
  • The project was completed by The Municipal Infrastructure Group Ltd (TMIG), now doing business as TYLin.
