TYLin was part of a team retained to create a Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (CUE) in Rochester, New York, for the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Constructed in 1927, the building for the CUE was originally the home of Rochester Savings Bank. The historic, wedge-shaped building features the Byzantine architectural style and offers one of the most impressive interior spaces in downtown Rochester.

The CUE is part of the Saunders School of Business and includes classrooms, meeting rooms, project spaces, academic support facilities, a library and resource center, staff and faculty offices, and public spaces to support the program’s needs.

TYLin assisted RIT in completing all necessary documentation to apply for New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) rebates related to a variety of new equipment provided in the building. The application was submitted to NYSERDA on behalf of the client.

Project Highlights:

  • TYLin’s services provided included mechanical, electric, and plumbing (MEP) engineering, structural engineering, and architectural support for the project.
  • Based on TYLin’s previously completed condition assessment survey and property report, all new, fully addressable devices were designed to tie into an existing Simplex Fire Alarm Control Panel.
  • The CUE project returned RIT to its downtown roots and revitalized a National Historic Landmark.
