Yonge and Front

TYLin provided design, construction administration, and inspection services for watermain and sewer improvements in the downtown core of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The project increased sewer capacity limits and updated existing infrastructure to ensure a healthy sewer system. Along with minimizing the potential for disruption, the project aligned infrastructure with long-term growth plans in the heart of the city.

Project Highlights:

  • Due to the project location, traffic management, traffic staging, and frequent coordination and communication with key stakeholders is critical to project success.
  • Multiple construction contracts are being completed simultaneously, requiring coordination with multiple work zone coordinators.
  • Sewers are being designed using microtunnelling methodologies to reduce impact to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, transit, and existing utilities.
  • Utility relocations are required to accommodate shaft locations.
  • Coordination and clearances are required from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP), Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), Gardiner Expressway Group and Metrolinx, Scott Street Pump Station Operations.
  • The project was completed by The Municipal Infrastructure Group Ltd (TMIG), now doing business as TYLin.
