T.Y. Lin International Announces Completion of Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge in Massachusetts

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces the successful completion of the new Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge (Burns Bridge) in central Massachusetts, which was marked by a dedication and bridge lighting ceremony on November 1, 2015. Part of a design-build team led by The Middlesex Construction Company, and working closely with the project’s lead design engineer, Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, TYLI provided design services, bridge architecture review, and the independent design check for the bridge replacement project. The new Burns Bridge opened four months ahead of schedule and represents a signature initiative of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' historic Accelerated Bridge Program.

T.Y. Lin International to Provide Construction Management and Engineering Services for Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project in Los Angeles, California

Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works has awarded a contract to TYLI to provide construction management and engineering services for the development of the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project. The new signature viaduct bridge will replace the existing Sixth Street Viaduct, which was constructed in 1936, and connect the City’s Arts District on the west side of the Los Angeles River and the historic neighborhood of Boyle Heights on the east side.

San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge New East Span Wins International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) Outstanding Structure Award 2015

Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge New East Span (East Span) has won the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) Outstanding Structure Award 2015. This prestigious, annual award is given to a single project that IABSE has named “the most remarkable, innovative, creative, or otherwise stimulating structure completed within the last few years” worldwide. TYLI, in a joint venture with Moffatt & Nichol, served as Engineer of Record on the East Span project and was responsible for the design engineering of the iconic, seismically-resilient bridge.

Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that the new Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People (Tilikum Crossing) opened to great fanfare in Portland, Oregon, on September 12, 2015. Working closely with the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) and the Design-Build Contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure West Co., TYLI served as the Engineer of Record for the landmark bridge, which is a vital component of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project. The 1,720-foot-long Tilikum Crossing is the nation’s largest transit-only bridge, built to carry only light rail, buses, cyclists, pedestrians, and streetcars, but no private vehicles.
