T.Y. Lin International Hires Steven Rocklin to Head Code Compliance Group at Albany, New York Location

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) has named Steven Rocklin as technical director of its expanding Code Compliance Group. Rocklin will head up the newly established Albany, New York office at One Commerce Plaza. Rocklin brings more than 35 years of professional experience including a lengthy career with the New York State Department of State Division of Code Enforcement and Administration.

“Steve’s leadership, experience, industry knowledge and contacts will be an excellent asset to the TYLI team as we grow and expand our Facilities Team and Code Compliance Group and pursue code related projects in and around the Capital Region,” said Jim Krapf, Facilities Group Director. “Steve’s technical skills and expertise will provide further oversight for regulatory compliance.”

In this role as technical director, Rocklin will be responsible for assisting clients to ensure compliance with all applicable building and fire regulations.

Before TYLI, for 27 years, Rocklin served as with the New York State Department of State, Division of Code Enforcement and Administration, including several years as Assistant Director, leading the regional services unit. In this position, Rocklin was responsible for implementation and services related to mandatory state fire prevention and building code, provision of technical assistance to regulators and the construction industry, and investigation of complaints regarding code compliance. He managed and supervised a staff of 14, including several licensed professionals who served as the Regional Engineers for the codes division throughout New York State.

Rocklin chaired two subcommittees of the Code Council, for the development of the State Fire Code and the State Energy Code. Over twenty years ago, he led development of the State building rehabilitation code subchapter. He served as a principal member of National Fire Protection Association technical committee on protection of cultural resources.

Rocklin earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
