T.Y. Lin International’s Maribel Castillo Joins Board of Directors of The Unity Council in Oakland, CA


T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Maribel Castillo, Associate Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications, has been elected to the Board of Directors for The Unity Council, a non-profit community development corporation based in Oakland, California. As a Board Member, Castillo will advise the organization on messaging, working with Board leadership and staff to increase visibility of The Unity Council and expand its engagement with online audiences.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, The Unity Council, known formally as the Spanish Speaking Unity Council, is committed to enriching the quality of life of families and individuals in Oakland. Youth education, neighborhood improvements, health and wellness, senior support services, on-the-job training, and living-wage employment opportunities are among its program offerings.

Castillo leads brand strategy for TYLI, overseeing all aspects of its global marketing and communications functions. The communications programs she has directed have won top honors from organizations such as the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the American Business Awards, the Web Marketing Association, and the International Academy of Visual Arts.

Castillo earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University. She is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Castillo previously served on the Board of Directors of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and SMPS.
