T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announced today that Patti Boekamp, P.E., has been named Principal Program Manager/Associate Vice President for its San Diego office and the Southwest District.
Boekamp brings over 27 years of in-depth transportation and capital improvement project delivery experience within the San Diego region. More than 20 of those years were spent with the City of San Diego, where she served in increasingly responsible roles and had most recently served as Director of the Engineering and Capital Projects Department.
In this capacity she directed staff responsible for delivering a wide range of capital improvement projects including bridges and interchanges; roadways; slope stabilization; storm drains and storm-water pilot projects; traffic calming; sidewalks; safe routes to school; rebuilding older streets; water/sewer pipelines; water and sewer treatment and process facilities, parks and recreation facilities; libraries (including the new downtown main library); lifeguard, fire, and police facilities; numerous emergency projects including post-fire erosion control/BMPs following catastrophic wildfires, rebuilding Fashion Valley Road, and restoration of Soledad Mountain Road following a landslide; as well as other key infrastructure related services such as construction inspection of engineering permits, the City’s traffic engineering services, and the Utility Underground Surcharge Program.
While at the City, Boekamp also served in several special assignments, including representing the City Manager as Council Liaison for a period, performing as transportation liaison for key national events such as Super Bowls, and overseeing the Petco Ballpark Infrastructure Project.
"We are honored to count Patti among our ranks," said Clark Fernon, P.E., TYLI Vice President. "She is one of the best-known and most respected engineers and industry leaders in San Diego, and even nationally in some transportation circles. Those of us who know Patti recognize that her skills, personality, and cooperative approach make her ideal for her new role. We’re excited that she’ll be involved in major projects and our regional marketing program."
Boekamp received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from San Diego State University. She is a registered Traffic Engineer, and has had leading roles with numerous professional organizations, including serving as a Founding Board Member of the California Alliance for Advanced Transportation Systems, as an Officer for APWA San Diego/Imperial Counties, and as an Officer and Director representing the 13 Western States on the Institute of Transportation Engineers' (ITE) International Board of Directors. She has been honored regionally for her professional accomplishments and leadership; most recently as the 2010 recipient of the Engineering & General Contractors Association (EGCA) President’s Award and previously as ITE Transportation Professional of the Year.
