As one of the three largest airports in China, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport plays an important role in the Pearl River Delta region.
With a total investment of US$2.8 billion (19.8 billion RMB), the airport was the first on the Chinese mainland to be designed and constructed according to the airport hub model. The newly constructed airport services significant domestic and international passenger volume and cargo.

- Planning included needs analysis of all landside transportation facilities, including the landside facilities of Terminal 2 and its surrounding road networks; the transportation connection points between Terminal 1 and 2; and the curbside network, parking system, and ground transportation center.
