Torrey Meadows Drive Overcrossing at SR 56
TYLin was the Prime Consultant for the Torrey Meadows Drive Overcrossing project at SR 56 in San Diego, California.
Torrey Meadows Drive exists as a two-lane street north and south of SR 56 and previously ended in a cul-de-sac on either side of the freeway. The project consists of placing a new two-lane bridge across SR 36.
TYLin’s responsibilities included providing the Project Study Report/Project Report (PSR/PR), environmental technical studies, environmental clearance, and plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E).
The new Torrey Meadows Drive Overcrossing connects divided communities, supplies a second means of ingress and egress for properties south of the highway, and reduces traffic congestion at the Camino Del Sur interchange.
Project Highlights:
- The project provides the infrastructure necessary to support local development.
- Project approval documents followed California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) guidelines, with concurrent reviews and approvals performed by Caltrans and the City of San Diego.
- To process the project for construction, TYLin assisted the City of San Diego, Caltrans, San Diego Association of Governments, and a local developer to Torrey Highlands Public Facilities Financing Plan funds.
