Greenwich Academy South Campus
TYLin provided structural engineering services for two buildings on Greenwich Academy's South Campus.
The new three-story Lower School building on this independent day school’s South Campus contains a double-height library, an auditorium, classrooms, support spaces, and a feature stair that doubles as a gathering area. The building is partially set into the hillside. TYLin designed the steel-framed structure to support the non-orthogonal interior geometries.
A standalone entrance canopy at the drop-off area consists of cantilevered steel posts with a steel-framed roof. A second canopy at the eastern entrance cantilevers from the building.
As part of the larger South Campus transformation, TYLin also provided structural engineering services for the renovation and expansion of the Middle School. The two buildings are connected by a series of courtyards and other open spaces.
