FLL Taxiway and Ramp Rehab

TYLin provided design and construction administration and inspection services for major airfield and terminal apron rehabilitation projects at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Coordinating closely with the Broward County FLL Aviation Department, Federal Aviation Administration, and airline representatives, TYLin developed detailed phasing plans to allow construction to be completed efficiently while maintaining uninterrupted airport and airline operations.

The Ramp Rehabilitation Package included concrete pavement replacement, pavement repairs, joint resealing, and reconfiguration of aircraft and ground equipment ramp markings for all gates at Concourses D, E, and F.

The Taxiway Rehabilitation package included the milling and overlaying of airfield pavement, reconstruction of selected pavement sections, shoulder widening, taxiway geometry corrections, airfield markings, and new LED edge lights for Taxiway B.

Project Highlights:

  • TYLin prepared detailed phasing and safety plans to maintain aircraft operations during construction.
  • The project included the rehabilitation of the asphalt taxilanes surrounding the Concourses.
  • Taxilane rehabilitation work was accomplished during the evening hours, returning the area to normal aircraft operations each day.
