Friday Harbour Resort
TYLin provided design services for new internal and external water, sanitary, and stormwater infrastructure to supplement design services for the Friday Harbour Resort in the Town of Innisfil, Ontario, Canada.
The mixed-use, recreation-based development is located on approximately 239 hectares (590.6 acres) of land, creating a waterside community that comprises an engaging blend of residential, commercial, entertainment, and recreational uses.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Infrastructure includes two wet well/dry well sanitary pumping stations, one internal to the development (120L/s) with a 300-millimetre, 2,600-metre-long forcemain, and one external (135L/s) with dual 250-millimetre, 1,300-metre-long forcemains.
- The sanitary pumping stations include emergency storage tanks, standby power, and odor control facilities.
- Infrastructure also includes a 3.7ML elevated storage tank with chlorine feed and dechlorination systems, a valve house, and two stormwater pumping stations (343L/s and 76L/s).
- The dual forcemains required 80 metres of directional drilling under an existing creek.
- Effective project management was integral to the project's success, as it involved careful coordination with several other consultants and contractors providing services at the resort.
- TYLin collaborated with designers and stakeholders to develop efficient and reliable infrastructure that is atypical of a standard facility design, meeting the client's needs while providing a cohesive aesthetic for the resort's facilities.
- The project was completed by The Municipal Infrastructure Group Ltd (TMIG), now doing business as TYLin.
