TYLin designed a new warehouse and distribution center in Greece, New York, for the e-commerce and information technology company, Amazon.

The project was completed under an accelerated design and construction schedule. TYLin accommodated numerous client-requested changes while maintaining the overall project completion schedule to ensure Amazon’s operations commenced as planned.

The new building totals close to 165,000 square feet of warehouse space and 13,000 square feet of office and accessory use. TYLin designed it as a concrete slab-on-grade structure with structural steel columns and roof framing with perimeter structural precast walls.

The project is situated on a 73-acre site and includes parking for approximately 840 vans, 360 personal vehicles, and 30 trailers to provide “last mile” delivery capabilities in the Rochester, New York region.

TYLin served as Prime Designer and provided architecture, civil, site, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, and construction administration services.

As a result of TYLin’s excellence in design and construction administration services and close coordination with the Authority Having Jurisdiction, the delivery station moved from concept to full building operation at a faster pace than other similar Amazon projects.

Project Highlights:

  • The project included the design and infrastructure for approximately 800 delivery van Electric Vehicle charging stations.
  • The project was designed and constructed in 22 months.
  • The design and construction team’s performance earned a letter of recognition from the client’s lead construction manager, along with a recommendation that the team be involved with future projects.
