TYLin provided alignment scheme and pre-detailed alignment design services and special span detailed structural design services for three packages for the second line of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The KVMRT Project will be a three-line MRT system envisioned as a “wheel and spoke” concept that consists of two northeast-southwest radial lines and one circle line looping around Kuala Lumpur.

The MRT Putrajaya Line (MRT 2) will serve approximately two million people, stretching from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya, and including Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan, and Cyberjaya.

TYLin’s three packages include:

Elevated North Package - Extending from Sungai Buloh to Jalan Ipoh, this package is approximately 14 kilometers long and includes 10 elevated stations and one half-sunken station. 

Elevated South Package 1 – This package is close to 13 kilometers long, running from South Kuchai Lama to Bukit Serdang-UPM, and has eight stations, including one provisional station. 

Elevated South Package 2 – Extending close to 15 kilometers, from Serdang to Putrajaya, this package consists of seven stations, including one provisional station (scheme design stage only). 

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • The KVMRT Project includes approximately 52 kilometers of railway, with 13.5 kilometers underground and the rest elevated. 
  • A total of 36 stations are included, 11 of which are underground. 
  • Once in full service, MRT 2 will carry over 500,000 passengers per day.
