T.Y. Lin International Hires Stephen R. Morton, P.Eng., as Senior Project Manager/Project Executive, Surface Transportation, for Northern California District

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Stephen (Steve) R. Morton, P.Eng., has joined the firm as Senior Project Manager/Project Executive for TYLI’s Northern California District. Based out of the firm’s office in Sacramento, California, Morton will provide project management expertise on surface transportation and other special projects. He will also lead and assist in business development efforts in the Sacramento and Bay Area markets.

Coming to TYLI with 37 years of experience in civil engineering, Morton has held leadership positions for large-scale transportation projects in California that involved multiple agencies and stakeholders. He has also supervised or managed transportation projects that included multiple disciplines, including traffic, structural, civil, geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental engineering, as well as public outreach components.

Pyrz, P.E., Vice President, TYLI Northern California District Director. “Steve not only excels at project development and leadership, but he also brings deep experience in managing teams and groups of transportation professionals. He has been notably successful in the delivery of complex projects for a wide array of public and private clients.”

Morton’s past projects in California include serving as Principal-in-Charge for the Yerba Buena Island Interchange in San Francisco, a project to provide new access to Yerba Buena and Treasure Islands from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. He also served as Principal-in-Charge for the implementation of a moveable median barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge, and the delivery of joint venture design services for a new bridge structure and arterial roadway in Folsom. In addition, Morton was the Rail Delivery Partner Contract Manager responsible for the management of a seven-year contract for program services for the California High-Speed Rail program.

A registered Professional Engineer (Civil) in Canada, Morton received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from the University of New Brunswick, New Brunswick, Canada. He also completed Finance for Executives, an Executive Program course from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois.

Morton is active in industry associations including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Public Works Association (APWA), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
