T.Y. Lin International Hires Aycel A. Freda. P.E., as Senior Highway Engineer for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Market

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized, full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Aycel A. Freda, P.E., has been hired as a Senior Highway Engineer. Based in the firm’s office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Freda will provide technical expertise for roadway and highway design, plans production, and the management, programming, planning, design, and construction of Surface Transportation projects, including Alternative Design projects. Her responsibilities include supervising production in multiple TYLI offices and providing day-to-day technical guidance and career mentoring to direct reports.

Freda joins TYLI after close to 12 years with the Florida Department of Transportation District 4 (FDOT), where she served as Consultant Project Manager, Pavement Design Engineer, and Roadway Designer for FDOT’s Roadway Design Division. Prior to FDOT, Freda worked for a Tampa-based engineering services firm, where she provided technical design for various highway projects in southern Florida.

Among her many FDOT projects, Freda prepared the construction plans for County Road (CR) 812/ Lantana Road and I-95, which included operational improvements at State Route (SR) 9/ I-95. She also prepared the signing and pavement marking plans and traffic control plans for the reconstruction of SR 714 Martin Downs Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a six-lane divided roadway in Martin County.

Additionally, Freda prepared the traffic control plans for projects such as Sunset Strip from Nob Hill Road to Sunrise Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard from City Hall Circle to Dixie Highway, both complex Complete Streets projects in Broward County. Other projects include the reconstruction of Barber Street from 66th Avenue/ Schumann Drive to County 512 in Indian River County and SR A1A from Monroe Street to Sheridan Street in the City of Hollywood; the replacement of the asphalt pavement to concrete pavement of US Route 27 in Palm Beach; and the reconstruction of Kanner Highway, including a roundabout at the intersection of CR 811 in Martin County.

Freda received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Havana, Cuba. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida.
