Thomas Calderwood, PE
Principal

Each project presents a unique set of challenges and constraints. Our challenge is to find the simplest, most elegant solution that addresses the most complex, inter-disciplinary problems of the project.

Originally, Mr. Calderwood graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with his Bachelor’s degree. He worked for several years before deciding to return to the University of Texas where he earned his Master’s degree in 2016. During that time, Tom rose quickly at the firms where he worked.  His natural feel for engineering and his ability to work well with others frequently resulted in Tom managing the most technically and politically challenging projects.  Tom has continued his steady rise since joining Architectural Engineers Collaborative in 2017. He was promoted to Principal in 2023 and has continued in that roll within the Building Sector of TYLin.  As the head of the San Antonio office, he is currently licensed in several states and has served as the Engineer of Record for projects in Utah, Arizona and Texas, including the new, 32 story apartment building at 300 Main in San Antonio.  He is currently serving as the Engineer of Record for the Mass Timber headquarters of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and for large portions of the Terminal Expansion and Master Architect work at the San Antonio International Airport.
