Connecting People and Places in Rwanda
Volunteers from TYLin, in partnership with Bridges to Prosperity (B2P), built the Bishenge Bridge in Rwanda. For our volunteers, this was a life-changing experience. It highlighted the impact of meaningful connections and the power of engineering to elevate the human experience.
This groundbreaking structure stretches 223 feet across the Gasumo River. It was B2P’s first-ever corporate-sponsored hybrid suspension bridge, merging innovative elements from suspended and suspension bridges to address varying elevations and rugged terrain.
At the heart of this project lies the need for enhanced connectivity across Rwanda’s rivers, and its impact reaches far beyond the physical span. By ensuring continuous access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, the bridge will transform the lives of residents of the Gishenge, Gakomeye, Kibuga, and Ruhinga communities.
