CTA Red Line Extension Wins FTA's 2023 Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Environmental Document Preparation
TYLin responsible for successful delivery of Final EIS/Record of Decision
TYLin, a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Red Line Extension has been honored with the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) 2023 Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Environmental Document Preparation.
TYLin served as CTA’s Prime Consultant for the delivery of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)/Record of Decision, a milestone achieved in August 2022. Presented on October 9 at the 2023 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) TRANSform Conference, the award recognizes TYLin’s dedication to environmental excellence and sustainable transportation solutions.
The Red Line Extension project comprises a 5.6-mile extension of the transit line south of 95th Street Terminal to 130th Street at Chicago’s southern border. The project will reduce commute times, improve mobility and accessibility options, and streamline connections to other transportation modes for this area of the city.
In September, the Red Line Extension project successfully secured a commitment from the FTA for USD 1.97 billion in grant funding, allowing the project to advance.
