T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that the Dublin Link in Dublin, Ohio, has been named the 2020 Transportation Project of the Year by the Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP). TYLI served as Prime Consultant for the final design of the signature pedestrian bridge over the Scioto River. Highlighting the important contributions engineers make to society, the annual ESWP Project of the Year Awards recognize exceptional projects based on Technical Innovation, Commercial Success, and Benefit to Society.

The new Dublin Link serves as a critical transportation link for pedestrians and cyclists and connects the site of the future Riverside Crossing Park on the east side of the river to Downtown Dublin's commercial, residential, and retail businesses on the west side. TYLI worked with the City of Dublin to develop the unique bridge concept, which resulted from a collaboration between TYLI and the Architect, Endrestudio of Emeryville, California.

The gracefully aesthetic, 760-foot-long Dublin Link follows an "S" curve alignment, with a steel superstructure that passes through the "eye" of the concrete pylon tower without any vertical support. The deck is a steel box girder with an asymmetric "V" form, which changes shape as users cross while maintaining a 14-foot clear deck width from end to end. The pylon has a total height of 176 feet and measures a dramatic 110 feet high from the walking surface to the top of the tower.

"The Dublin Link not only serves as an essential crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, but it is also a landmark structure that represents the growth and vitality of the city, its residents, and Franklin County communities," said Dan Fitzwilliam, P.E., TYLI Senior Bridge Engineer. "On behalf of T.Y. Lin International, the City of Dublin, and our project partners, we are honored to accept the 2020 Transportation Project of the Year from the Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania."

TYLI joined the project team in accepting the Transportation Project of the Year Award at the virtual ESWP Annual Engineering Awards Banquet on February 25, 2021.
