T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, is proud to announce that Tom Errico, P.E., has been named Transportation Engineer of the Year 2013 by the New England Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (NEITE).

Based in TYLI’s office in Falmouth, Maine, Tom was honored with this award “for outstanding leadership as Project Manager for the highly-successful Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT)/Baystate Roads Complete Streets Design Training Initiative across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2011-2012 and for promoting MassDOT’s goal of an Enhanced Transportation Compact.”

As Project Manager for the MassDOT Complete Streets Design Training Initiative, Tom was responsible for the development and delivery of close to 80 training workshops throughout the State. Workshop attendees included MassDOT engineers, consultants, and municipal staff. Massachusetts’ Complete Street and Enhanced Transportation Compact initiatives direct all transportation projects within the Commonwealth to increase bicycling, transit and walking options, and promote multimodal access for transportation customers.

The Transportation Engineer of the Year Award is intended to recognize outstanding technical proficiency by a member of NEITE. Only members who have displayed exceptional technical accomplishments in the form of written articles or reports, or development of a new concept and/or theory related to transportation engineering or major transportation projects are considered for this award.
