T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) Group, a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, welcomes Niek Niëns as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for TYLI Group’s Asia Pacific Region. Based in Singapore, Niëns will help establish and lead the direction, strategy, and growth initiatives for the region, as well as oversee business development, client service, technical and operational excellence, people, and safety initiatives. TYLI Group’s Asia Pacific Region includes 2,100 professionals working on projects across China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Niëns joins TYLI Group with more than 17 years of experience in engineering, operations leadership, consultancy services, and project management for transportation infrastructure, buildings, environmental programs, and water treatment/structures. His previous roles include serving as COO of the Asia region for a global design and consultancy firm, where he oversaw daily operations, operational improvements, profitability, business and client development, Quality, Health, Safety and Environment management (QHSE), and project/program results in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. He was also directly responsible for all Design & Engineering and activities in the Asia region.

Niëns’ past accomplishments include the acceleration and improvement of collaboration between design and engineering centers in Hong Kong and Singapore and global excellence centers in the Philippines and India to lead digital design work for global/Asia clients. He also directed a largescale design, engineering, and landscape architecture business across the Asia region.

Additionally, Niëns has led a major change management program across Asia, where he successfully increased project profitability by introducing significant improvements in project management processes and skills. Prior to his work in Asia, Niëns worked in a similar role across Europe in nine different countries, including in the Netherlands.

The Global Infrastructure Pillar consists of over 5,000 professionals across the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, with a powerful range of technical expertise and disciplines serving all transportation sectors and with deep resources in building engineering.

Niëns earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands. He also completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from the University of Twente School of Management.
