T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Chris Fronheiser, P.E., has been hired as Deputy Director, Alternative Delivery Method Group (ADMG), for TYLI’s East Region. Based in the firm’s office in Chicago, Illinois, Fronheiser is responsible for overseeing TYLI’s design-build (D-B) services throughout the midwestern, eastern, mid-Atlantic, and southern United States, and within multiple market sectors, including bridge, highway, rail and transit, and aviation.

Fronheiser comes to TYLI with 24 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of large, interdisciplinary projects across the United States. Before joining the firm, he held national business development roles for private infrastructure design and construction firms, establishing a successful track record of developing new and ongoing relationships with key infrastructure clients and contractors in the pursuit of Alternative Delivery projects.

Fronheiser’s Alternative Delivery pursuits include acting as Deputy Pursuit Manager for tender phase services related to the $240 million I-395 Express Lanes Northern Extension D-B project in Virginia, the $2 billion I-4 Ultimate Improvements design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM) project in Florida, and the $550 million South Capitol Street Corridor Improvements D-B project in Washington, DC.

Additionally, Fronheiser’s project design expertise includes serving as Deputy Project Manager and Lead Highway Engineer for the full reconstruction and widening of one mile of mainline I-70 in Maryland, where he was responsible for project pursuit management and design engineering. He was also the Project Engineer in charge of surface drainage and erosion and sediment control design for the Indian River Inlet Bridge D-B project, which resulted in a new cable-stayed suspension bridge over a major inlet to the Atlantic Ocean in Delaware.

“Chris has extensive experience in business development and project management focused on Alternative Project Delivery. We are very pleased to have him join T.Y. International’s East Region team,” said Daniel Heller, P.E., TYLI Vice President and ADMG Director. “We have established a reputation for designing structures with optimum construction ease in mind for design-build, public-private partnerships, integrated project delivery, and construction management-at-risk methods. Having Chris on board only strengthens T.Y. International’s value to transportation officials in the U.S. and around the world.”

A registered Professional Engineer in Maryland, Fronheiser received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He remains active in professional organizations such as the American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD), the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), Transportation & Aviation Committee, and the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), where he serves as Advocate Director for the Chesapeake, Maryland, Section.

Fronheiser is also a member of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), where he currently serves on the Board of Directors and as a Contractors Division member. He is also the past Chair of ARTBA’s Southern Region Industry Leaders Development Council and past National Chair of the group’s Young Executive Development Council.
