TYLin, a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Ram Balasubramanian, P.E., Vice President, will assume the role of Rail + Transit Sector Manager for the New York and Northeast areas. He will also continue to be TYLin’s technical lead within R+T on stations and other transit facilities. He formally begins in this position on October 31, 2022.

Ram has been with TYLin for more than 12 years and has held positions during that time of increasing responsibility. He has managed TYLin’s teams for a wide variety of transit, buildings, airports and structural engineering projects, including numerous New York City Transit station rehabilitation projects. He has served as Project Manager and Lead Engineer for multiple heavy, light, and commuter rail transit projects involving the transformation of deteriorating urban transit stations into modern, code-compliant structures. He has extensive experience on large design-build and P3 projects in the US and worldwide ranging from $30 million to over $2 billion.

“We are very pleased to have Ram step into the role of Rail + Transit Sector Manager for New York and the Northeast,” said Joseph Yesbeck, P.E., TYLin Senior Vice President and Rail and Transit Sector Leader for the Americas. “He will be a good match with the position as he has already been taking the lead on projects and pursuits with Metropolitan Transit Authority and other agencies in the northeastern corridor. Ram’s structural engineering background, combined with his rail experience and relationships with New York area transit agencies, make him an excellent fit as we work to raise our profile with our rail and transit clients in the northeastern region.”

Ram holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Anna University in India.
