TYLin provided design services for the rehabilitation of deteriorating pavement at the intersection of Taxiways S and W at Ontario International Airport (ONT) in Ontario, California.

The design-bid-build project included the investigation of the causes of the deteriorated pavement and complete removal and replacement of the Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavement, including stabilization of the underlying base course and subgrade. The in-pavement centerline and runway guard lights (RGL) and pavement markings were also removed and replaced.

The project also included the construction of a permanent bypass taxiway, relocation of a service road and a blast fence, and a complete site drainage system.

Project Highlights:

  • The project removed and replaced 6,400 square yards of PCC pavement and constructed 11,455 square yards of asphalt pavement.
  • Construction of the bypass taxiway and service road took place in the runway safety area (RSA) of a CAT III runway, with uninterrupted access maintained to the UPS leasehold to the south.
  • TYLin provided the Construction Safety Plan (CSPP) for work within the RSA.
