T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Eric S. Nielsen, P.E., has been hired as Senior Aviation Project Manager. Nielsen will manage large-scale aviation projects, including airfield, infrastructure, and terminal facilities, maintaining the highest quality of service in accordance with TYLI’s Quality Management System. His responsibilities include overseeing all technical and project-related activities, such as conceptual design, detailed engineering, site and field layouts, construction administration, and commissioning and activation.

Nielsen comes to TYLI with more than 37 years of civil engineering project management experience with professional services firms. He has led airport design teams for a wide variety of complex aviation projects, including the design and construction of Aircraft Design Group V runways, runway and apron rehabilitations, runway and taxiway extensions, and airfield pavement management and maintenance projects.

Past projects include serving as a Senior Aviation Project Manager on the Rehabilitation of Taxiways E & F and Associated Taxiway at Orlando International Airport in Orlando, Florida. Nielsen was also the Deputy Project Manager for the Runway 6-24 Extension for Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Florida.

In addition, Nielsen has managed the design, testing, and production staff needed to obtain wind/impact loading approvals for client products from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and Miami-Dade County. Along with providing Quality Assurance services to commercial service airports, Nielsen also helped develop, implement, and provide direction for the development of baggage screening equipment for more than 400 commercial airports across the United States.

A registered Professional Engineer in California, Florida, Oregon, and Texas, Nielsen received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
