Brightline Stations
TYLin was the structural Engineer of Record for two new intermediate Brightline Stations in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Florida.
Brightline is an intercity passenger rail service connecting Miami to Orlando. The higher-speed rail service provides residents and visitors with a viable transportation alternative to congested highways and airport terminals.
TYLin conducted feasibility studies for two intermediate stations. Each 60,000-square-foot station and platform includes a modern, multi-story lobby with an elevated passenger lounge area and a pedestrian crossing bridge over the right-of-way connecting the terminals and parking garage.
As structural Engineer of Record, TYLin conducted feasibility studies for various structural systems and developed concepts based on constructability, construction time and cost, and the need to meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements.
TYLin utilized modern design tools and structural frame studies to efficiently develop and analyze the structural options and optimize the architectural form of the stations.
Project Highlights:
- TYLin used Building Information Modeling Technology (BIM) with Autodesk Revit Structural model to efficiently develop and analyze structural options and assess the material takeoff.
- By using SAAP 2000 and ETABS in connection with Revit structure, TYLin reduced the time needed to create an analytical model geometry for various iterations that led to the ultimate station designs.
