T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), a globally recognized full-service infrastructure consulting firm, announces that Robert (Bob) Gorski, P.E., has been hired as Sector Manager and Associate Vice President, Rail + Transit. In his role, Gorski will lead and support strategic business development efforts and operations for the Rail + Transit sector in the Central Area, which includes states such as Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Gorski joins TYLI with more than 27 years of progressive leadership and management experience, leading multi-disciplinary organizations towards the successful operation and implementation of major infrastructure programs.

He most recently served as Program Design Manager for a 5-year, $400 million Capital Improvement Program for a major Midwestern city. In that role, he managed a design team of over 100 engineers, scientists, and technical specialists to execute approximately $100 million worth of work per year.

Along with leading Rail + Transit operations, Gorski will serve as Project Manager for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Red Line Extension in Chicago, Illinois. TYLI is providing a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) study and Preliminary Engineering services for the project. The project will extend the Red Line from the existing terminal at 95th/Dan Ryan to 130th Street, subject to the availability of funding. The proposed 5.6-mile extension would include four new stations near 103rd Street, 111th Street, Michigan Avenue, and 130th Street. Each new station would include bus and parking facilities. Construction is anticipated in 2024.

“We are very excited to have Bob join the T.Y. Lin International team as our Rail and Transit Sector Manager for the Central Area,” said Joseph Yesbeck, P.E., TYLI Senior Vice President, Rail + Transit, Americas. “Bob has exceptional experience in the successful pursuit and delivery of major infrastructure projects, including railroad, commuter rail, water and sewer, highways, and bridges. He is an excellent fit to lead our overall growth strategy and build on and reinforce the relationships we have with transportation agencies and other clients in the Midwest.”

A Registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, Gorski earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
