Our expertise has equipped government entities with the data, strategies and tools necessary to both reduce emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change, maintaining a consistent focus on equity and environmental justice. Climate mitigation projects also meet key environmental justice priorities with co-benefits from improved air quality, particularly in communities of color and lower income populations disproportionately exposed to pollution.
Our climate mitigation work focuses on strategies to avoid unnecessary trips; shift to walking, cycling and transit; improve trip efficiency; and accelerate electric vehicle adoption. We also consider adaptation strategies that create robust infrastructure that can survive shocks and stressors; redundant systems that spread mobility capacity equitably over the overall transportation network; rapidity of communication to residents in response to major events; and resources to build community resiliency. We have extensive experience leading the transportation section of larger resiliency plans, coordinating across experts on adapting systems with cascading interdependencies.
