40 Bleecker
TYLin provided structural engineering services for a new 135,000-square-foot building located within Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood.
This new 12-story luxury condominium complex has 61 units ranging from one to five bedrooms. The flat plate concrete structure’s six penthouses feature private terraces created by a series of setbacks. Communal amenities include a 57-foot swimming pool and a 5,600-square-foot rear courtyard garden.
TYLin’s work involved coordinating typical high-end details such as terrace setbacks, window deflection heads, and landscape loading for the rear terraces. A below-grade parking garage required designing double wide flange transfer girders and tying into the neighboring building’s cellar to utilize its car ramp. Although 40 Bleecker is not especially close to any transit tunnels, a subway entrance directly to the north necessitated coordinating and MTA filing.
