Brooklyn Bridge Rehabilitation Outreach
TYLin provides community outreach services for the New York City Department of Transportation’s (NYCDOT) rehabilitation of the historic Brooklyn Bridge.
The $508 million bridge rehabilitation project includes the painting of the entire structure, as well as the reconstruction and widening of several approach ramps. The project presented several major challenges: not only is the Brooklyn Bridge a vital vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle gateway, it is also a highly visible tourist destination and an official national landmark.
The team maintains an accessible public presence through community meetings, presentations, and a frequently updated webpage and social media presence. It also designs and creates brochures, newsletters, and public announcements for a multi-lingual community. The Community Liaison works with the Resident Engineer, the Engineer-in-Charge, the contractor, and the NYCDOT to ensure strong inter-agency and inter-project communication and coordination.
