Detroit Traffic Management Operational Assessment
TYLin worked with the City of Detroit to assess the City’s traffic management structure, functions, and processes with the ultimate goal of improving multimodal transportation outcomes throughout the city.
The TYLin team worked closely with staff at the Department of Public Works and Detroit Police Department, organizing a series of listening sessions, interviews, and focus groups with staff and key external stakeholders to learn about operational strengths and opportunities. TYLin also reviewed existing processes and standard operating procedures to identify potential improvements. Using this information, the team co-created a set of actionable solutions with staff geared towards improving internal and external communication, cross-departmental coordination, incident response processes, and data collection and management, all while leveraging investments in the City’s Traffic Management Center and infrastructure.
