Downtown Brooklyn Public Realm Action Plan

TYLin spearheaded the transportation elements of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership’s Public Realm Action Plan, contributing to a comprehensive vision and urban design framework for the rapidly evolving neighborhood. Their team conducted transportation assessments, developed concept designs, and facilitated technical feasibility analyses to ensure a practical and forward-thinking plan, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and adaptability. Our team meticulously analyzed existing conditions, identifying critical gaps in the transportation network for various modes, from walking and transit to biking and freight. They laid the groundwork for a core network of pedestrian streets and shared spaces, integrating best practices to tailor recommendations to the local context and accommodate the evolving needs of the central business district (CBD). Throughout the planning and design process, we maintained close coordination with NYC DOT to align strategies and ensure seamless integration with broader transportation initiatives.
