Faith Wing Reno

TYLin provided engineering and construction support services for the renovation of Faith Wing at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama.

Faith Wing is part of the main administration building for the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CPD). The CDP is the designated federal training center engaged in preparing emergency first responders, emergency management officials, and state and local community leaders and managers to combat terrorism. The renovation of this 1950s-era wing was managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.

TYLin’s services included structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering. Renovations included additions for a new stairway, entry way, and elevator, as well as upgrades to the various systems throughout the building.

Since more than half of the building was being renovated, wind and seismic analysis and upgrades were required by code. Shear walls were added from foundation to roof throughout the building and supported by micropiles.

The CDP is a subgroup of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a subgroup of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
