Freight Mobility Support, NYC DOT
TYLin has been providing consulting services to the New York City Department of Transportation’s Freight Mobility Unit.
The team has been involved in various efforts supporting innovative long-term urban freight solutions, including the Micro-Distribution Center Pilot Program (Microhub), Locker NYC Pilot Program, Expansion of Neighborhood Loading Zones, Cargo Bike Program Expansion, Over-height Vehicle Detection Analysis, Truck Route Utilization, Truck Signing Analysis, Truck Safety Dashboard in Power BI–Truck Crash Analysis, and review and analysis of Automatic Response Tracking System (ARTS) database and Loading Zone Comment Portal.
TYLin's team provided their technical expertise in conducting spatial analysis using Arc GIS and Python scripting, site visits and analysis of over 30 sites for the implementation of the Microhub pilot, field assessment of over 100 sites for the LockerNYC pilot, development of Power Bi dashboard by analyzing and visualizing city-level truck crash dataset, summarization and dissection of 24-hour vehicle detection data at over 150 locations throughout NYC leading to a better understanding of weather and time of day operations for oversized vehicles.
Additionally, in conjunction with the DOT Freight Group, the team performed an analysis of over 1,700 comments to determine bad actors and identify geographic or topical trends or user trends for the Loading Zone Comment Portal. Along with technical support, the team also supported graphic work for various projects, such as creating illustrations and branding designs for Locker NYC and Microhub Pilot Program.
