Hudson Streetscape Design/Build
TYLin Leads Design-Build Revitalization of Hudson Street Streetscapes in NYC's Hudson Square
TYLin and Prima Paving were engaged by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to spearhead the design and construction, respectively, for the Hudson Street Streetscapes segment within the Hudson Square Improvement Master Plan, marking NYCEDC's inaugural design-build endeavor. Tasked with enhancing pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular safety, our collaboration aimed to revitalize the commercial district with a grand boulevard concept, harmonizing with the neighborhood's unique character.
Our team orchestrated the reallocation of road space to accommodate a protected bike lane and expanded pedestrian areas, involving utility relocation and the reconstruction of Hudson Street's west side between Canal Street and Houston Street. Serving as the primary liaison between the design-build team and client agencies, including NYCEDC, NYCDOT, and the Hudson Square Business Improvement District (HS BID), we managed agency approvals coordination and facilitated public engagement with property owners along the corridor. Moreover, our team coordinated comprehensive traffic control measures to expedite construction while mitigating community concerns, ensuring seamless progress during the build phase.
