Morton Arboretum Comprehensive Plan
TYLin is working as part of a team of consultants (including landscape architects, ecologists, hydrologists, architects, wayfinding consultants, and others) to develop a master plan for the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL, about 20 miles west of Chicago.
The Arboretum had particular challenges with bottlenecks at the main access points, the quantity and location of parking provision, and internal conflicts between bicycles, pedestrians and motor vehicles. We are working to address all three of the major transportation pain points by developing recommendations for changes to gate access and the total access management system; proposing ways to maximize the utilization of existing parking resources, develop systems for better access for bicycles, Lyft and Uber, and transit riders; and reducing conflicts on Arboretum roads by separating bicycles, hikers, and other Arboretum traffic.
