MTA Bicycle, Pedestrian & Micromobility Strategic Action Plan
TYLin is leading the development of a comprehensive strategy for the MTA – the New York City region’s transit agency, one of the largest transit systems in the world – to improve bicycle, pedestrian, and micromobility access to, from, and on their facilities, including subway stations, bus stops, commuter rail stations, and major bridges.
The TYLin team, including several subconsultants, is performing a detailed analysis of existing conditions and emerging trends for active transportation modes in the New York City region (including sophisticated spatial analysis), researching and synthesizing best practices and case studies from New York’s peer cities around the country and across the globe, supporting engagement with staff from across the MTA’s numerous operating agencies and external partners to brainstorm and vet ideas, and developing a holistic, impactful action plan that will, for the first time, allow the MTA to prioritize and coordinate its programs and make new investments to dramatically improve first- and last-mile connections to transit and expand choices for commuters, prioritized based on social equity. The result will be a clearly communicated, visually impactful document that incorporates the input of a wide range of stakeholders and changes the way MTA does business to consistently incorporate the needs of non-motorized modes.
