Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement Program
TYLin assisted the Port Authority of NY&NJ Traffic Engineering and Major Capital Projects units in a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive review of the preferred concept for the replacement of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
Within a highly condensed timeframe, TYLin’s team of traffic engineers, transit planners, and transportation planners provided input and feedback on traffic engineering, bus operations, constructability, and concept development. Over the course of this review, TYLin worked closely with Port Authority staff to develop an alternative concept. Detailed comparisons were performed between the original and revised concepts to develop “proof-of-concept” level analyses that considered traffic operations, bus operations, pedestrian access and circulation, and safety.
Our staff also participated in a series of workshops to serve as subject matter experts and work with PANYNJ representatives and other consultants to further the review of the preferred concept. Additionally, TYLin staff have been analyzing pedestrian operations during construction, developing mitigations, and developing key elements of the TMP and MOT plans.
