The Redmond Technology Station Bridge
The Redmond Technology Station Bridge is a 1,100-foot span crossing more than 20 lanes of roadway beneath and two sets of light rail tracks and is a safer way to move Microsoft’s employees and commuters between campuses.
Positioned under a series of interconnecting canopies that run the length of the bridge over State Route 520, the structure makes it easier to get to work and is an attraction that encourages remote and hybrid workers to return to the office.
In 2018, Microsoft engaged Kiewit to develop a signature enclosure spanning State Route 520. The program was for an outdoor enclosure for a new pedestrian and bike bridge that would connect Microsoft’s East and West Campuses. Kiewit then hired TYLin (formerly FTL) to provide concept design services. Working through a series of workshops with the MS team, TYLin developed an approved design concept in July 2018 and was subsequently retained to continue design and engineering work through completion.
