Ringling and Orange Roundabout

TYLin took on the challenge presented by the Ringling at Orange intersection in downtown Sarasota, recognizing the urgent need to address safety concerns amidst Florida's high rates of traffic conflicts. Leveraging our expertise in engineering and planning, we spearheaded the design of an innovative context-sensitive solution, transforming the awkward signalized intersection into a modern roundabout tailored to the urban environment. Through meticulous design and construction oversight, our team prioritized pedestrian safety and accessibility, while also optimizing traffic flow and minimizing delays, particularly for public transit buses. Our comprehensive approach included reconfiguring lanes, enhancing signage, and incorporating green infrastructure elements to beautify the space and mitigate stormwater runoff. The successful implementation of the Ringling at Orange Roundabout, opened in July 2018, has not only enhanced safety and functionality but also elevated the aesthetic appeal of downtown Sarasota, setting a new standard for effective and community-focused traffic engineering solutions.
