Seattle Transportation Climate Change Response Framework
TYLin, as part of the Cityfi Consulting team, worked with the City of Seattle and Seattle Department of Transportation to develop a detailed action plan to drastically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and vehicle miles traveled (VMT), encourage mode
TYLin led the technical components of the project and developed a custom-built emissions modeling and scenario planning tool to guide decision making. The TYLin team worked closely with City staff to define a range of potential scenarios, assess scenarios across a range of factors (including VMT and GHG reduction, mode shift, cost, revenue generation, feasibility, and return on investment), and utilize these findings to develop an optimal pathway for meeting the city’s goals.
The team also quantified a broad range of co-benefits such as safety and health benefits, household cost savings, air and noise pollution reductions, and job creation, and used the city’s Transportation Equity Framework to assess the benefits and burdens of potential strategies on frontline communities and populations.
