St. Edward’s University Trustee Hall

Cast-in-place concrete is exposed selectively as an architectural finish throughout the building, complementing the soft, ochre-colored brick of the St. Edward's campus. A south-facing architectural concrete feature wall, with cantilevered concrete stairs and a molded, arched entryway, provides the building's central focus and organization while protecting its inhabitants from the brutal Texas sun.
"The cast-in-place concrete is massed and manipulated to assert its essential, ancient, permanent properties. The arch... reduces the material to a decorative motif, both mannerist and referential." -Elizabeth Danze, AIA, Texas Architect, 1/2/2004
