Buildings | Structural Engineering

Creating. Renewing. Preserving. Sustaining.

Our approach to structural engineering emanates from the long-held vision of one of our founding leaders, Bob Silman.

The underlying mission of the structural engineering group is to ensure that great ideas are built in a way that celebrates the seamless integration of architecture, structure, and your vision. This guiding principle, instilled through the leadership of Bob, Chuck Naeve, and Francisco Millanes continues today.

Our design approach results in the appropriate structural solution for each unique project, whether this necessitates ambitious structural schemes that leverage cutting-edge building materials and digital design technology, or the application of tried-and-true structural assemblies and methodologies.

We have successfully completed more than 30,000 projects of all types and sizes, including conditions assessments, historic preservation, small and large-scale new construction, master planning, arts and special structures, adaptive reuse, and renovations and additions. The breadth of this body of work requires knowledge of a broad range of building systems, repair methods, and much more. Throughout any project, TYLin building engineers lean upon decades of experience in all construction types and sectors to inform their decision making and design.

Our job is to deliver an overall structural design that is elegant, effective, and at the right moments, joyful.
