OPen Road International Circuit and Adjacent Infrastructure
TYLin is providing civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for the OPen Road International Circuit project in Bukit Malut on Langkawi Island, Malaysia.
The main element of the OPen Road International Circuit (ORIC) project is a 5.8-kilometer-long international racetrack, already being called the future "Nürburgring of the East."
The new development will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to attract guests to the duty-free island. Plans include luxury residential properties and hotels, high-end retail stores, and a variety of tourist attractions. TYLin will provide civil and structural and mechanical and electrical (C&S/M&E) expertise for this adjacent infrastructure.
Carried out through a joint venture between Permodalan Kedah Bhd and Open Road Asia Sdn Bhd., the racetrack is expected to achieve Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile/International Automobile Federation (FIA) Grade 2 certification standards. That allows for all forms of world-class motorsport events except Formula 1.
With a gross development value of RM 1.3B (USD 2B), the ORIC project is expected to boost jobs and economic growth locally and across Malaysia. The new race track is slated to open in the third quarter of 2023.
