SEA South Satellite Electrification of Ground Support Equipment Plan
TYLin developed plans for electrifying ground support equipment at the South Satellite Terminal of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Seattle, Washington.
Working with the Port of Seattle, we provided plans for the electrification of ground support equipment (GSE) at the South Satellite Terminal. As part of this work, we examined the possibility of replacing legacy equipment with equivalent zero emission electrified equipment for international and domestic operations. Implementation of this electrification plan will save fuel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The TYLin team evaluated space adjacent to the terminal building and under the proposed gate pods to identify all available locations for potential charging infrastructure. The goal was to maximize the opportunity for Port of Seattle operations and US Customs and Border Protection to use electrified GSE (eGSE) and vehicles.
The proposed renovations would provide for approximately 65 eGSE parking locations and 13 standard electric vehicle parking spaces. TYLin provided recommendations for eGSE vehicles, charging equipment, and power.
