T.Y. Lin International Wins Multiple Awards for Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge in San Diego, California

Since its grand opening in April 2011, the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, one of the world’s longest self-anchored pedestrian suspension bridges, has won multiple awards from local, regional, and national-level award programs.

Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge earned the “Globe Award” in the bridge category from the American Road & Transportation Builders Association. The project was recognized for its use of materials appropriate for San Diego’s marine environment, mitigation of potential hazards for pedestrians crossing the railroad tracks at Harbor Drive, and community involvement during the planning stages.

Most recently, the project won the Merit Award in Architecture from the American Institute of Architects, California Council’s 2011 Design Awards Program. American Public Works Association (APWA) San Diego & Imperial Counties Chapter bestowed the project with its highest honor: the "2011 Project of the Year" award. Additionally, Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge was the recipient of the Urban Infrastructure Award presented by the Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana District Council.
