Climate Planning
TYLin’s sustainability practice helps to identify detailed pathways to meet greenhouse gas emission goals in the transportation sector.
A key tool we use to do this is our in-house Climate Calculator. This tool, developed for the Seattle Climate Change Response Framework, identifies the effectiveness of a range of transportation demand management, mode shift and electrification strategies in specific urban and non-urban contexts to identify suites of strategies that will allow cities and other jurisdictions to meet their greenhouse gas emissions goals for transportation. The tool also quantifies planning-level capital and operations costs; right of way allocations needed to support mode shift; and co-benefits, including safety, economic development and equity. As a result, we can help clients identify which suite of strategies will be most cost-effective and will help them meet other important public policy goals. This tool was recently featured at COP28 in Dubai.
In addition, TYLin brings a specific focus on zero-emission freight planning, developing wholistic frameworks to incentivize or require a transition to zero-emission freight, including via freight mobility hubs and sustainable first/last mile deliveries.
